25 Apr The Joy of Salvation
Last weekend we celebrated Easter! It’s one of the biggest Sundays of the year at churches all over America. It’s where we get to celebrate that Jesus Christ our Savior, has risen from the dead to bring us eternal life. Just like it says in Matthew 28:6, when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb –
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6a)
Here at newhope we were able to see 395 salvations across our campuses! 395 people who heard the gospel (The Good News) and decided to follow Christ! Praise God!
Guys, this is awesome! The bible tells us in Luke 15:10, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Imagine the party heaven had over those 395 children of God.
So what happens next? Unfortunately, for our lives as believers, it’s not always a walk in the park. When we step “outside” in the world, there are so many things that can kill the joy of our salvation if we’re not careful. Anger, fear, worry and more.
In Psalm 51:12-13, David asks God to restore the joy of his salvation, because let’s face it, life can be hard. But something that we usually don’t pay much attention to is the next part of this verse where David says,
“Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.” (Psalm 51:13)
God called ALL of us to preach the gospel. St. Francis of Assisi said once, “Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.”
Make sure to come to newhope as we kick off our new series, Assassins – They’ll Take You Out! We will learn more about how we can deal with some of the feelings that can hinder our walk with the Lord.
Hope to see you guys this Sunday at a newhope campus near you!
