New Shoes Cure The Blues!

Have you ever put on a pair of new shoes and all of a sudden you feel awesome!? I know I have. With a good pair of shoes, it’s like no matter what is going on in your life, they put a little pep in your step. Have you ever worn stilettos? There sure is a lot of “pep in those steps”!! By the way, it is not highly recommended that any guys try and pull off wearing high heels to church this weekend. 😂

We can all probably agree that a nice pair of shoes can boost our confidence and mood, but unfortunately, that feeling can fade quickly. As we all know, material things can not truly “cure” us in any way. Only Christ can do that. Psalm 90:14 says, “Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” That has always been one of my favorite verses. I love how the first part of that verse could easily be a prayer to start my day. “God satisfy me this morning with Your unfailing love” – His love is what truly satisfies us.

This week we will be in Part 4 of our SHOES series talking about the woman at the well. In John 4, the woman is at the well drawing water and has an encounter with Jesus. In verse 14 He says, “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

I’m looking forward to the beautiful hymn that we are doing this week called “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. We have a choice to turn our eyes and hearts to Jesus rather than turning to the things of this world. Only God can cure and truly satisfy the thirst in our hearts. My hope and prayer is that the Holy Spirit will move mightily in and through all of us, our families, marriages, and relationships. I’m excited for what God is going to do at the Columbia, SC Campus this weekend and across the movement! Won’t you join us? We have a seat for you!
