06 Sep Rooted Deeply in Christ!
In Colossians 2:6–7, the Word of the Lord says, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” What an amazing few verses of Scripture!
Over the course of the next few weeks, this really will be our focus at newhope! During our Worship Celebrations, and with registration open for Rooted, a 10-week discipleship journey, the newhope community will be pursuing Christ like never before!
The apostle Paul would put it like this in Philippians 3:10–14:
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
This is what it looks like to get rooted in the Gospel! This is what it looks like to make Christianity not just a Sunday exercise in consumerism but rather, become a person who is pursuing God with all of his/her heart, soul, mind, and strength! This is actually what it looks like for us to witness God taking this movement deep into the heart of His glorious Gospel!
Have you ever felt like there has to be more to the Christian experience? Have you ever deeply desired a closer walk with God so that your faith was alive and flourishing? If so, you do not want to miss this fall at newhope church, and it all starts this Sunday!
If you have not had a chance to do so, sign-up for Rooted HERE and I hope you will join us at a campus near you! I can’t wait to get this season underway! Let’s get it newhope!
Because of Jesus,
