14 Mar Spring is Coming!
I trust you are enjoying this warmer weather! Spring is in the air. Whatever you do, don’t miss this weekend as we are in for another great installment of Wrecked & Redeemed. Read John 4 in advance and let’s see what God might want to say to His church!
Growing up, our family vacations consisted of loooong road trips to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Flying on an airplane was not even a thought. So the first time I flew was a pretty big deal. I couldn’t wait! I worked up vivid imaginations of what it would be like and what I would see – only to be sorely disappointed when I woke up the next morning to clouds, dense fog, and rain. My excitement and expectations were dashed. I was so bummed. As we took off, I couldn’t even see the wing outside my window. Sadly, I laid my head back and closed my eyes.
About 20 minutes later, a bright light came on and I assumed someone must have turned on my reading light by accident so I opened my eyes. It took me a minute to process where this light was coming from and that’s when I saw it – the bluest sky and the brightest sun you’ve ever seen! I was shocked. I looked down to see the heavy blanket of clouds underneath us, as if we were just transported between two worlds. It never crossed my mind that even on the cloudiest, foggiest, and rainiest days ever, there is ALWAYS a blue sky and brilliant sunshine on the other side.
Winter can feel long right about now. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring… only to wake up to rain clouds forecasted for tomorrow. Trials can feel long –
“I thought this ‘thing’ would be over by now.”
“I’m ready for change and breakthrough but it’s still here.”
“I’m still going through it.”
Sometimes I lose perspective and let the clouds of life disappoint and discourage me. I feel trapped underneath my problems and I forget that the clouds and fog are ONLY temporary. The only thing that truly remains consistent no matter what storms may come is the blue sky and the sunshine just beyond the clouds.
My problems and circumstances are temporary, not my reality. The ONLY thing that remains consistent no matter what trials may come is the faithfulness of God. You may feel wrecked right now, but guess what… It does not define us or have the final say and God can turn any situation into a story of redemption. The storms we go through can even be used for our good as we find in James 1:3-4, “…the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
I love how nature reminds and tells the story of God all around us. No matter what you’re going through don’t lose HOPE, the blue sky and sunshine never left and spring is coming!
Don’t forget to join us this weekend at a location near you as we dive into part IV of Wrecked & Redeemed!
