27 Mar Time To Press In
Wow – what a time we’re living in. Some are overwhelmed with frustration, others are overcome by worry, and then there are a some that are gratefully resting in the peace of Christ. The truth is that in the midst of all that’s going on, we get to choose what we set our heart, mind, and focus on. We can stay zoned in on the sickness, job loss, isolation, financial crisis, and uncertainty or we can stay fixed on Jesus the Author and Perfector of our faith. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight. So you can focus on what you see happening, but God knows that’s not what is best for us. He sees what we cannot, and He lovingly instructs us to listen to His voice and seek His face.
Psalm 119:68a basically says “God is good and what He does is good.” If that’s true, then that means today, in the midst of quarantines, schedules completed turned upside down, and so many questions, we can be certain of this – that there is good to be found…even here. You can be sure of the fact that your Heavenly Father is working all things together for your good. You can stake everything on the truth that the good work He began, He will bring to completion.
Two big questions most of us are asking are: why is this happening and what am I supposed to do with all this time? One of the things God keeps reminding me is that with Him there is always purpose in the present. He doesn’t waste a single moment, day, or season. So, I encourage you, as I have begun doing, to take this time to press in to God’s presence and His Word more than you ever have in your life. I trust that as you do, God will reveal things He is wanting to do in you during this time and you will find a Father that comforts His children in the middle of the storms of life. Don’t just settle for a verse or two a day on the Bible app. Open up the Word and actually read through it! The Word of God is alive and active. It provides us with hope, brings what is dark to light, and transforms us into the image of Jesus. He has given us His Word as instruction and His Spirit to be able to live it out.
I believe there can be significant purpose in the pause in your life right now. My prayer is that God will use this to bring a spiritual awakening within the Church and a revival around the world. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “…if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” May it be so for us. May we say ‘yes’ to Him and see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
I invite you to join me this Sunday morning as we gather together on Facebook LIVE at 8:45 am and 10:45 am with the body of Christ to stay encouraged and built up in the faith. Let’s all come with a posture of a student – hungry and ready to learn – as we dive into Part 2 of Faith Over Fear. May we approach that time of worship ready to offer up a sacrifice of praise to a God who is always good, still in control, and completely trustworthy. We can’t wait to worship with you!
Praying for you!
