16 May We are the Church

This past week newhopers across all of our campuses have engaged in showing the love of Christ to those in need through our Week of Hope event! Church, this is awesome! Not only does this remind us of the similarities we often read about in the book of Acts, but it is also a fulfillment of the desires of God’s heart.

During this week, I engaged in several opportunities to serve our community with the newhoper’s of our Wake Forest Campus. While stocking shelves at a food pantry, I said to one of our world changers, “What we are doing right now is a fulfillment of scripture! And, it’s fun!”

Listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 25:35-40 –

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes, and you clothed me, I was sick, and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to visit me.” Then the righteous will answer Him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

When you think about it, Week of Hope is one of the strongest displays of the love of Christ we can model to those in our communities who are hungry, hurting, in need, or who are just far from God.

Family, when we are obedient to God’s Word, we not only obey the biblical commandments He has given us, but we fulfill the desires of God’s heart, put a smile on His face, and partner with Him in spreading the gospel all across the planet. For those who have already stepped up to the call of #EveryOneGiveOne, thank you so much for helping make our Week of Hope a success! If you haven’t, there are still opportunities to serve TODAY! Click HERE to view them or create your own.

Make sure your plans also include joining us for a Worship Celebration! We will be wrapping up our series, Assassins, by talking about anger and how to root it out of our lives! Bring a friend and join us at a campus near you!

Much love,

Keith Barreto
Wake Forest Campus Pastor
